France Bans Praying As Anti-Muslim Crackdown Grows
France is leading the way in the European crackdown on religious practices, especially the practices of the Muslim community. In the latest move, the French Interior Minister, Claude Gueant, has outlawed prayers on the streets of Paris in response to far-right calls to move against the supposed “Islamification” of the secularist State of France.

Further Destruction of Religious Freedom in Europe
The Dutch Parliament has now passed a bill that would seriously undermine religious freedom in the Netherlands. The bill, introduced by the small Animal Rights Party, would in all likelihood outlaw the production of kosher and halal meat, traditional and religiously prescribed foods for Orthodox Jews and Muslims.

In a dubious world first, France has now banned the traditional Muslim face coverings that have come to epitomise the image of strict Islam. Although the niqab and burqa are not a religious requirement, many Muslim women choose to wear them.

Can Burning a Book be a Criminal Offence?
Six men have been arrested and held for allegedly burning a book . The crime for which they have been held is “inciting racial hatred”, according to the Guardian newspaper.
Two men were arrested in Gateshead, UK, on the 15th September and four others detained on the 22nd September.

Europe At Loggerheads With Itself Over Burkas
The European Union has stepped into the debate over whether Muslim women should wear full veils, as Belgium and France continue to move closer to banning face coverings such as those of the burka and niqab.
